Pastor Danny Wayman
The Waymans married in 1977. They have three children and nine grandchildren. Both Danny and Melissa grew up in parsonages in Oklahoma and Texas.
Danny was born in Oklahoma City at the old Deaconess Hospital. He was educated in Putnam City Schools through high school and earned an Associate Degree from Central College in McPherson, Kansas in 1976, a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Southern Nazarene University in 1978, a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1982, and a Doctor of Ministry from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in 2002. Melissa was born in Coleman, Texas, graduated from Milby High School in Houston and has an Associates Degree from Central College where the two of them met.
Danny pastored churches in Houston and East Texas from 1982 to 2016. In 2016 he transferred to the Oklahoma Conference and pastored at Moore 1st United Methodist until the end of 2021. He chaired the Texas Conference board of Global Ministries and the Conference United Methodist Committee on Relief. He also served as a Commissioner of the Housing Authority of Texarkana, Texas and a board member of several non-profit and church organizations. Danny and Melissa have gone on church mission trips to Mexico and South Africa.
