Thoughts for reflection: Those new Christians who were coming from the Jewish faith were accustom to offering sacrifices during worship. These would most often be animal sacrifices, but Paul is changing things again. Rather than saying sacrifices were no longer required, he says that we as the worshipers are to the sacrifices offered to God. This does not mean that we are now sacrificing humans, but rather we offer ourselves to God so that God might use us for God’s work in the world. We are to come to worship to receive, to be changed, and to go forth and change the world for Jesus’ sake. If this is the case, how might this change how worship impacts you, and how you live your life because of worship?
